Newby Hall is the beautiful location for the Trident Standard Distance Triathlon. The course is probably one of the easiest and fastest Triathlons you will do in the country. After the race, take advantage of the free entry to Newby Hall (family ticket normally costs £55.00) and enjoy all the great facilities it has on offer.  Why not make a weekend of it and camp right next to the race site for free.

The swim for the Trident Triathlon takes place in the gently flowing River Ure. Athletes take a short walk from race HQ upstream.  From here athletes swim 1500m downstream, ideal if you wish to step up the distance from sprint to standard distance triathlon.  The river is wide, clean and most of all very easy to navigate.  Exit straight up the main Newby Hall gardens for one of the most iconic swim/bike transition runs in the UK (route details)

The bike course is an accurate 40km route. It is flat, fast and safe, utilising some of the local roads which see very little traffic on a Sunday morning.  The majority of the bike route takes you South onto the A168 and then North towards Dishforth. This road is quiet, flat, wide, and has a great road surface: perfect for both TT riding and less confident riders. The route will allow you to chase that all important PB (route details).

The 2 lap run takes you through the private grounds of Newby Hall.  The running surface is excellent underfoot, with a mixture of tarmac and track.  The two lap route allows spectators to see how your race is developing, but it also allows you to experience the great atmosphere and pushes you to run your fastest 10 km yet on this fast course (route details).

"I will be recommending this event to all of Wakefield Tri Club and hope there will be a few more of us next year. It will  definitely be in my calendar!  Big thanks to all the marshals and everyone involved, one if the best events I have participated in."

Steph Lockwood - Wakefield Triathlon

"I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the day yesterday. It was my first full triathlon, and at 54 years old I was a bit nervous but you and all your team made me feel at ease and were very encouraging. Please thank them all for me. The orgnaisation was very good throughout."
