Additional Information
Could I ask all athletes to bring a spare pair of footwear which will be suitable for you to make the short walk to the swim start ( 1km over grass fields). Athletes are kindly requested to have their wetsuits on at the waist during the race brief ( transition area), once the brief has finished you will be guided directly to the swim start. Please don't worry you will have time at the swim start to fit your wetsuit correctly and have a 5 min warm up in the water. Athletes are not to walk to the swim start unescorted or to enter the water until the swim official has ensured the correct safety measures are in place.
At registration you will be given a plastic bag with your race number on it, please use this bag and place your footwear in it once you get to the swim start. The bags will then be dropped off back at transition for you prior to you finishing the race.
Spectators are recommended to make their way to the swim exit ( this will marked and a marshal will take you there), from here you will have an excellent opportunity to see your loved ones swimming down the river and exciting the water in the beautiful gardens of Newby Hall . Could I kindly ask all spectators to ensure they do not impede athletes when they make the short run from the swim exit to transition; this will be clearly marked and fenced for you. You can then easily make your way back to transition where you will have the opportunity watch the remainder of the race.
Camping
You will be please to know that all athletes intending to camp will now be right next to registration, this area will be clearly marked when you arrive. Can I ask all athletes and family members to use this area only for camping. Water will be provided water via water jerry cans and there will also be toilets right next to the camping area. However you will also have access to the Newby Hall toilets/sinks which are situated approximately 400m away from the camp area. Could I kindly request that athletes do not use the sinks in the aforementioned toilets to wash any used cooking equipment, etc.
Refreshments
Hot and cold drinks/ sandwiches will be available at the transition area from 0830hrs on Sunday Morning.
The race will be fully marked out by 1600hrs on Saturday so you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the race routes.
Finally, please take advantage of the free entry to Newby Hall after prize giving ( as soon as the last athlete has finished), just show your race number and you + 1 Adult +2 Children will get in absolutely free.
